As we earlier familar with the NotebookLM and Today, I’m excited to show you how to create a podcast quickly using Google NotebookLM. If you’re a podcaster or just starting out, this method will streamline the process and allow you to produce a professional podcast in just minutes.
Create and Edit an Instant Podcast:
Step 1: Setting Up Your Notebook
First, let’s get started by setting up the Notebook. Here’s how I did it:
1.1 Create a New Notebook
I began by clicking on “New Notebook” within Google NotebookLM. This creates a fresh workspace for our podcast.
1.2 Add Source Material
I had just written a blog post on this very topic, so I decided to use that as the foundation for the podcast.
You can do the same by adding various forms of background information such as:
- Blog posts
- YouTube videos
- External websites For my podcast, I simply copied the text from my article and pasted it into the notebook.
1.3 Attribution and Identification
At the top of the notebook, I made sure to add some important details to identify the source and content.
Adding this information is crucial because it allows the AI to recognize me as the author and attribute the content correctly.
I also added the title of the article I wrote. It’s important to ensure all information is properly sourced to give credit where it’s due.
1.4 Insert the Article Title
After entering my details, I added the article’s title. This is a necessary step as it organizes the podcast content clearly.
Step 2: Background Information and Podcast Settings
Once the source information is added, NotebookLM takes over and does some pretty impressive things.
Audio Overview and Customization:
At the top of the screen, I saw options for customizing the podcast settings. I chose:
- Audio Overview
- Deep Dive Conversation
- Two Hosts
- English Only
NotebookLM then analyzed the content and provided me with a brief summary of the article, complete with suggested questions and topics for further discussion.
These questions were pretty useful and covered topics such as:
- Potential impacts on various industries
- Future developments
- Challenges and opportunities These customizable options allow you to tailor the podcast content according to the depth of discussion you want.
Step 3: Generating the Podcast
After setting everything up, I clicked on “Generate” and let NotebookLM do its magic.
Here’s what happened:
- Processing Time
It took about five minutes for the AI to generate the podcast. During this time, I didn’t have to do anything except wait. - Content Generated
NotebookLM generated several helpful outputs, including:- Briefing Document
- Study Guide
- Timeline
- Table of Contents If you’re creating a more extensive podcast, you can add up to 50 different sources for a richer discussion. I only added my blog post to keep things simple.
Step 4: Exploring Google NotebookLM’s Features
Now, let’s talk about Google NotebookLM itself. Have you heard of it?
It’s pretty mind-blowing. It doesn’t just summarize content—it creates podcast-style discussions based on the material you upload.
What Makes It Stand Out?
Conversational Format:
You can upload anything, from research papers to articles, and the AI generates an interactive discussion. It’s like having two hosts talk about the material in a podcast format.
Natural-Sounding Voices:
One of the most striking features is the natural-sounding AI voices. When I first heard it, I was surprised at how human-like it sounded. It’s nothing like the robotic text-to-speech voices we’re used to.
Effortless Content Generation
NotebookLM analyzes the content you provide and breaks it down in a way that’s easy to follow. The voices sound so real that it feels like you’re listening to a live discussion rather than AI-generated content.
My Personal Experience with Google NotebookLM
I haven’t spent a lot of time experimenting with NotebookLM yet, but I can tell you that it’s fast, easy to use, and produces impressive results. For this demonstration, I went back to some of my friends’ blogs to try it out.
A Few Examples
I pulled material from the following people:
- Tracy Brown
- Patrick Allmond
- Mimi Brown
- Mary Kelly
In just a few minutes, I was able to generate podcasts that genuinely impressed them. It’s a new tool, but it has already proven to be incredibly effective for quickly generating quality podcast content.
Wrapping It Up
To wrap things up, I decided to retitle my project to something more fitting: Google NotebookLM. From here, I went back to the Notebook guide and reviewed the audio overview, which I could download or further edit in AutoPod podcast editor.
This tool is a game-changer for anyone looking to create podcasts with minimal effort. If you’re using it for professional purposes or just for fun, I highly recommend giving it a try.
